Three Changes are Part of the New WyoPreps Soccer Rankings
A new No. 1, and two new teams in the top five, highlight the latest edition of the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Soccer Polls.
For the second consecutive set of rankings, only the Cody Fillies are a unanimous choice for No. 1. Meanwhile, Jackson re-enters the top five in 4A girls, while Mountain View makes its debut in the 3A girls poll.
The new top-ranked team is in 4A boys. The Thunder Basin boys join their girls atop the 4A poll. The Bolts finally are in the top spot thanks to eight of the 13 first-place votes. Thunder Basin had been in second in the first three polls of the season. Kelly Walsh climbs up one spot to second. The Trojans received four first-place votes and are only six points behind Thunder Basin in the balloting. Jackson’s first loss of the season drops the Broncs to third. Sheridan and Cheyenne Central hold in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The top four are the same in 4A girls. Thunder Basin is one vote shy of earning all the votes for No. 1. Rock Springs, Cheyenne Central, and Sheridan hold in second, third, and fourth. The Jackson girls are back into the top five at No. 5.
In 3A girls, Cody received all 10 votes for first. Lander is a unanimous selection for No. 2. Buffalo moves up two spots to third. Worland falls to fourth after their road loss at Mountain View. The Buffalos’ victory impressed enough voters that they move into the top five at No. 5. Newcastle was edged out of the rankings.
There is no change in 3A boys. Worland earned all but one first-place vote. The Warriors are undefeated on the season. Powell is second, and the Panthers received the other vote for No. 1. Lander, Douglas, and Cody stay three, four, and five.
