Three Cheyenne Sixer Baseball Players Will Play at the Next Level
Cheyenne Post Six senior Zack Costopoulos, Dom Lopez, and Julian Romero will continue playing baseball in college.
The three signed earlier this week at the Cheyenne Post 6 Legion Hall.
Costopoulos signed with Howard College in Big Spring, TX. Lopez signed at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, NM. Romero inked with the University of Jamestown in North Dakota.
The trio has helped Cheyenne win the last two Double-A American Legion Baseball state championships in Wyoming.
Costopoulos was a unanimous first-team all-state selection in 2021. He was joined on the first team by Lopez. Romero was a second-team all-state pick a year ago.
In the 2021 run to a state title, Zack Costopoulos hit for an average of .410 with 31 doubles and seven triples. He also had 10 home runs with 110 RBIs and 71 runs scored. Costopoulos’ ten home runs were the most in a single season of the BBCOR bat era.
Lopez hit .342 last year with 53 RBIs. He scored 81 runs, the second-most on the team. Lopez hit 18 doubles, two triples, and a home run.
Romero had a .314 batting average and drove in 58 runs. He had 15 doubles and scored 69 runs. Romero also posted a 4-3 record as a pitcher. He finished with a 2.30 Earned Run Average and had 68 strikeouts over 48.2 innings pitched. Romero added two saves last season.
