Torrington’s Sam Firminhac will continue his baseball career by playing for Concordia University in Seward, NE.

The Torrington High School graduate and member of the Torrington Tigers Legion baseball program signed this week to play for the Bulldogs.

Firminhac was a First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-State selection for the Tigers last year. He helped Torrington to a 13-24 record in 2019. They went 2-2 at the Wyoming Class ‘A’ Legion Baseball State Tournament in Douglas.

According to Torrington’s GameChanger stats from 2019, Firminhac hit .356 with 25 RBI’s last season. He had 36 total hits, including 13 extra-base hits and scored 23 runs. Firminhac also made 10 appearances on the mound and started five games last year.

Firminhac also played football and basketball for the Torrington High School Trailblazers. He was the starting quarterback on the gridiron and a multi-year starter in hoops. Firminhac earned 3A East All-Conference honors on the basketball court in 2020. He averaged 14.2 points and a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game his senior season.

Concordia University competes at the NAIA level of collegiate athletics. They are part of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). The Bulldogs were 14-7 during the 2020 season before the COVID-19 pandemic cut short their season.
