Sophie Berglund of Buffalo Furthers Her Track Career at ORU

Buffalo’s Sophie Berglund has signed to compete in track and field at Oral Roberts University. Berglund is a four-time state qualifier at the outdoor state track championships and a three-time state qualifier at the indoor track state championships. She was a jumper and vaulter in her prep career for the Bison.

Sophie competed at the state track meet last month in the triple jump and pole vault. She placed fifth in the triple jump. Berglund achieved a career-best mark of 35-1.25 during the 2024 season. She also had a personal-record leap of 15-7 this spring in the long jump. As a junior in 2023, Berglund competed in the same two events at the state championships. She took seventh in the triple jump. That came after a 3A East Regional title in that event at 34-2.50. Berglund was second in the pole vault at the same regional track meet. She competed in the triple jump and pole vault at the outdoor state track meet in 2021 and 2022. Her career-best in the pole vault was 9-2 in the 2022 season.

In indoor track, Berglund competed in the pole vault, triple jump, and long jump at the 2024 state championships. She placed fourth in the triple and fifth in the pole vault. In 2023, Sophie was the 3A runner-up at the indoor state track meet in the triple jump and competed in the pole vault, as well. She ran the 400 meters, vaulted, and triple jumped at the 2022 indoor state track meet. Berglund also ran the 200-meter, 800-meter, and 55-meter hurdles during her prep indoor track career.

Berglund was also an all-state choir singer in high school.

Oral Roberts University is in Tulsa, OK. The Golden Eagles compete at the NCAA Division I level and are members of the Summit League.
