The first of the two-part Wyoming High School track and field postseason is this weekend, as the regional track meets are at six locations in the state. Shoshoni and Sundance will host two regional competitions, while the rest will host one track meet. Those are in Cheyenne, Mountain View, Rock Springs, and Wheatland. Some individuals and relay teams have pre-qualified for next week’s state track meet. At regionals, the top eight in individual events and the top four in relays will also qualify for next week’s state championships in Casper.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL REGIONAL TRACK AND FIELD SCHEDULE 2024

Here are the regional track meets and their start times at the six venues. All regional meets will stay on a schedule to allow student-athletes rest time between events.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY, MAY 10 & 11

1A & 2A West Regional Track and Field Championships in Shoshoni

Schedule: Noon (Field Events) & 1:45 p.m. (Track Events) start on Friday; 9 & 10 a.m. on Saturday

1A Teams: Arapahoe Charter, Burlington, Cokeville, Dubois, Encampment, Farson-Eden, Ft. Washakie, Little Snake River, Meeteetse, Riverside, Saratoga, Ten Sleep, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy

2A Teams: Big Piney, Greybull, Kemmerer, Rocky Mountain, Shoshoni, St. Stephens, Wind River, Wyoming Indian

Team Winners = Cokeville in 1A girls, Big Piney in 2A girls, Burlington in 1A boys, & Big Piney in 2A boys.

Addison Barnes of Cokeville won the 1A 200 meters, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and high jump. Big Piney's Micah Strong won the 2A 100 meters, 400 meters, & 800 meters. Kemmerer's Laynee Walker won the 2A 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, & pole vault and was on the winning 4x100 relay. 

1A & 2A East Regional Track and Field Championships in Sundance

Schedule: 10 a.m. (Field) & 1 p.m. (Track) start on Friday; 9 & 9:30 a.m. on Saturday

1A Teams: Arvada-Clearmont, Guernsey-Sunrise, H.E.M., Hulett, Kaycee, Midwest, Rock River, Southeast, Upton

2A Teams: Big Horn, Burns, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk, Pine Bluffs, Sundance, Tongue River, Wright

Team Winners = Upton in 1A girls, Big Horn in 2A girls, Upton in 1A boys, and Big Horn in 2A boys.

Melody ZumBrunnen of Lusk won the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, & long jump. Big Horn's Gavin Stafford won the 100 meters, 200 meters, & long jump, and was on the winning 4x100 relay. Ethan Schiller of Upton won the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, & triple jump.

3A West Regional Track and Field Championships in Mountain View

Schedule: Noon (Field) & 12:15 p.m. (Track) start on Friday; 9 & 9:15 a.m. on Saturday

3A Teams: Lander, Lovell, Lyman, Mountain View, Pinedale, Powell, Thermopolis, Worland

Team Winners = Worland girls and Mountain View boys.

Mountain View's Jaylee Antonino won the 100 & 300 hurdles, high jump, & triple jump. Powell's Caden Nelson won the 100 & 200 meters, plus the long jump. Lovell's Matthew Newman won the 800 meters, 300 hurdles, & triple jump, and was on the winning 4x100 relay. 

3A East Regional Track and Field Championships in Wheatland

Torrington's Brooklyn Asmus won the 100, 200, & 400 meters, and was on the 1st place 4x100 relay.

4A Teams: Cody, Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Riverton, Rock Springs, Star Valley

Star Valley's Valerie Jirak won the 400 meters, high jump, & long jump. Cody's Ada Nelson won the 800 & 1600 meters and was on 2 winning relays. Evanston's Gabe Hutchinson won the 100 & 200 meters and was on the winning 4x400 relay. Cody's Charlie Hulbert won the 800 & 1600 meters, plus was on the 1st place SMR.

4A East Regional Track and Field Championships in Cheyenne (at South HS)

East's Taliah Morris won the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump, and was in the 1st place 4x100 relay. Sheridan's Chance Morris won the 100 & 200 meters and was on 2 winning relays. Sheridan's Aiden O'Leary won both hurdle races & was on the 4x100 first-place relay.
