For the second consecutive year, Laramie’s Tessa Dodd was chosen as the 2025-26 Gatorade Wyoming Volleyball Player of the Year. She is the fifth Gatorade winner selected from Laramie High School and the sixth winner in a row. In its 41st year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company announced the award on Friday via a press release to the media.

WYOMING'S 2025-26 GATORADE VOLLEYBALL AWARD WINNER

The 6-4 senior outside hitter had 492 kills and 317 digs last fall. She led the Plainsmen to a 32-4 record and a third-place finish at the 4A volleyball state tournament. Dodd added 63 service aces and 42 total blocks. She was chosen the 4A Player of the Year by the Wyoming Coaches Association for the second consecutive year and earned her third all-state honor. Dood was named a Second Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Providing insight into Dodd's impact, Kelly Walsh High School head coach Jeff Barkell provided a perspective on Dodd from the 2025 season.

“Her resume is killer, and they got the ball to her so much that her stats really stand out. On that team, that was the best way to have success.”

Off the court, Dodd maintains a 3.95 GPA and has signed to play on scholarship at the University of Kansas beginning in fall 2026. She has also contributed to her community by volunteering as a youth volleyball referee and participating in events such as the Laramie High School Volleyball Food Drive and the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Oncology golf fundraiser for cancer research.

The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court. It distinguishes Dodd as Wyoming’s best high school volleyball player. She is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award, to be announced later this month.

Dodd joins fellow Laramie High School alumnae Maddy Stucky (2022-23 and 2023-24) and Alexis Stucky (2020-21 & 21-22) as recent winners of the state’s Gatorade Award.

As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $6.4 million in grants to winners across more than 2,200 organizations.
