The Cheyenne Sixers dynasty continued on Friday in Sheridan after a 4-0 victory over the Gillette Roughriders in the championship game at the 'AA' State Tournament.

Cheyenne got a shutdown pitching performance from Colter McAnelly and timely hits to win a third straight 'AA' title and 19th in the last 22 seasons.

McAnelly chatted with WyoPreps about winning another title, his 19 strikeout performance, his approach with the hitters, and more.

Sixers' left fielder Julian Romero was named the 'AA' State Tournament MVP. He had a batting average of .333 during the state tournament and led Cheyenne with four walks and an on-base percentage of .529. Romero had three RBIs and three runs scored. He spoke to WyoPreps after winning the title and admitted to being a little surprised by his MVP award.

For Cheyenne, this is six state championships in the six years they've played at the 'AA' State Tournament under manager Ty Lain. They did not play in 2019. He discussed this state title, the competitiveness of the tournament, and looking forward to the regional tournament in Gillette.

Cheyenne will play Eagle River, AK, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, in their first game at the 2022 Northwest Regional Tournament in Gillette.
