Wiley Hegwer of Shoshoni is coming off a 2A State Championship in wrestling and will be moving on to compete for Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. You would have recognized him as Wiley Philleo on the mat and on the football field for the Wranglers.

At the 2025 2A State Wrestling Tournament, Hegwer won the 157-pound state championship with a win over Riley DeHaven of Moorcroft in the title match. He finished the season with a mark of 36-13 and placed 2nd as a junior at 138 pounds at the State Tournament. Hegwer also placed 6th at the Ron Thon Tournament in 2024 at 138 and finished the season 32-11.

He was 4th at the 2A State Tourney at 132 pounds as a sophomore, going 20-10, and went 1-2 at State in his freshman year at 126 pounds. In football, Hegwer played at the linebacker and running back spots with 60 tackles on defense in his senior year, with 6 sacks, and caught a touchdown pass. He accumulated 63 tackles in his junior year with a pair of rushing TDs

Morningside University is a NAIA institution that competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
