It was not a fluke that Wind River made it to the 2A championship match in 2019. The Cougars were good, led by a 2 time all-state player in Savannah Arneach. She was a 6-foot senior who was a major force at the net and she was joined by another all-state pick and that was 5-9 senior Sky Sanderson. If that wasn't enough, Wind River had 3 more players that earned all-conference designation, senior Gabby Wall, senior Rohnnie Nacata and junior Charlie Strock. The Cougars started out state tournament play with a spirited 3-1 win over Glenrock, which was followed by an exciting 3-2 win over defending champion Wright, However, the Cougars failed to keep up the intensity in a 3-0 loss to Sundance in the 2A title match 25-13, 25-18 and 26-24. The Cougars finished the season 26-11 and they have plenty to be proud in 2019.
