Wright Girls Basketball Team Looks for Major Improvement
The Wright girl's basketball team certainly wants to make progress after a 9-17 season a year ago. The Panther's last winning season was in 2019 and their last 2A State Tournament appearance was in 2017. Wright has made just one state tournament trip in the last 15 years but they do have a ton of returning players that should make the team competitive. The Panthers have 6 returnees who played at least 21 games this past season, including all-conference pick Shaelyn Strohschein who averaged 7 points and 8 rebounds per game last season. Briana Meza is another contributor from last season and a year ago, she averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Wright played host to their Coal Miner's Tournament over the weekend and beat Greybull and St. Stephens while losing to Rocky Mountain and Wyoming Indian. Each day will be live and learn and improvement is the name of the game. We talked with Shaelyn Strohschein and Mya Hentch-Robb about their team after their victory over Greybull and the road ahead.
