Wind River senior Wylie Shearer became a member of the 1,000-point club for high school basketball recently.

Shearer was named an all-state player last year and has been a two-time all-conference selection for the Cougars.

During his senior season, he is averaging a double-double of 18.9 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Shearer is shooting 39 percent from the field and also averaging three steals per game. He has helped Wind River to a 7-6 record and a 2-0 start in 2A Northwest Quadrant play. The Cougars are rated fourth in the 2A rankings of the latest WyoPreps Coaches & Media Boys Basketball Poll.

Shearer helped Wind River to a 19-8 record last year during his junior season. They won the 2A West Regional title and went 1-2 at the state tournament. Shearer averaged 13 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season and shot 41 percent from the floor.

In his sophomore season of 2020-21, he averaged 14.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Wind River was 12-11 that year and won the consolation trophy at the 2A boys' basketball state tournament.

Shearer contributed 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during his freshman season of 2019-20.
