PhotoFest! LFL Wins 1st Boys Basketball State Title in 35 years
The 1A Boys Basketball Championship game featured two teams that had a combined 1 loss entering the contest. Defending Champion Upton lost to Lingle-Fort Larame in the East Regional Final and LFL came into Saturday's match-up undefeated. The Doggers came through with a 4th quarter surge to win the game 41-32 and also win their first State Championship since 1990. Plus, LFL capped an unbeaten season and that's an extraordinary accomplishment.
Lingle-Fort Laramie has a formidable 1-2 punch in Brody Roberts and Brady Cook. Roberts threw in 20 points on Saturday night in Casper on 7-13 from the field while Cook was 5-9 from the floor for 10 points and also 12 rebounds. LFL also went 7-11 from the free throw line and that always helps in big games.
Upton had a tough night shooting the basketball, going 3-19 from the 3-point line, and were led in scoring by Logan Timberman and Jackson Evans with 9 points apiece. The Bobcats have been one of the most consistent boys' programs in the state with 8 straight 20+ win seasons and 3 state championships. This year the Cats went 25-2.
