Two teams with substantial ability meet at the Ford Center in Casper on Saturday as Douglas took on Cody in the 3A Girls Championship game. Douglas found a way to edge Cody 58-55 thanks to a couple of free throws with less than 2 seconds to go from All-Star Lauren Olsen. That result gave the Bearcats their 7th consecutive State Championship, and in all likelihood, it would have been their 8th if the 2020 State Tournament hadn't been cancelled due to Covid.

Olsen is the All-Time leading scorer in Wyoming girls high school basketball and went 10-19 from the field and 7-11 from the free throw line en route to 30 points. That's what she had been doing her entire prep career as the team finished the year 27-1. The Cats have lost just 6 games over the last 4 seasons. Jaden Meyer was in double figures as well with 13 points and Bailey Wright chipped in 9.

Cody fought until the bitter end to finish 22-5 and were led in scoring by Sydney Simone with 18, Grace Hays had 14 and Ellie Talich finished with 13. The Filles moved to 3A this season but have 4 straight 20+ win seasons, including a 4A State Championship in 2023.
