The Douglas Dynasty in 3A Girls' Basketball added another chapter on Saturday in Casper as they defeated Buffalo 54-33 to win their 6th consecutive 3A State Championship. The Bearcats are the only school in the state to win six straight in girls' basketball. Taking out the Covid-canceled year of 2020, when no one was awarded a trophy in 3A or 4A, Douglas had equaled the five straight won by Campbell County in 4A girls' hoops in the 1990s last year, but Douglas surpassed that mark last Saturday. They will look to extend the streak, as the Bearcats return the bulk of this year's team for 2024-25.

The Bearcats have one of the state's finest players in Lauren Olsen who averaged 23 points a a game this season. In their title game vs. Buffalo, Olsen rang up 26 points and was a frequent visitor to the free throw line as she converted 12 of 16. The junior is tough to stop on offense and she makes all her teammates better. Douglas also went undefeated this season at 27-0. This program has lost just 5 games over the last 3 seasons and just 7 losses over the last 7 seasons.

Buffalo made it to the 3A championship game for the 2nd straight year but had a rough shooting day on Saturday in Casper. They went 24% from the field and were led in scoring by Kamry Davis with 13 and Karly Davis chipped in 9. The Bison finished the year 22-4. They won 21 games last season so this group has been formidable.
