PhotoFest! State 3A Basketball Tournament Day #1

The State 3A Basketball Tournament commenced in Casper at the Ford Center on Thursday, and the Girls bracket was loaded with good teams.  In the morning session, Cody ran by Buffalo 58-34 as Maddie Beaudrie threw in 14 for the Fillies. Buffalo was paced by Karly Davis with 16. The other morning game saw Torrington 47-36 thanks to 12 points from Natalie Long and Kennedy Reinhardt. Lander got 10 points from Hayden Googles.

In the 3A Girls evening session, Pinedale dominated Wheatland 54-17 as Ellen Bowers was 11-14 from the field for the Wranglers, which was good enough for 23 points. Wheatland received 11 points from Lily Anderson. Then defending champion broke Douglas open a close game in the 2nd half to beat Powell 58-38. Douglas scoring machine Lauren Olsen had 29 on 12-17 from the floor while Powell was led by Emery Hernandez with 15.

So Friday at 4 pm over at Casper College, 21-4 Cody will play 15-8 Torrington in one semi-final while Douglas with a record of 25-1 plays 23-2 Pinedale in the other semi-final at 5:30.

In the 3A Boys quarterfinal round, Cody got by Buffalo 51-38 with Maddax Ball pouring in 23 for the Broncs while Konnor Rodriguez led the Bison with 9. Torrington defeated Mountain View 52-27 with Julian Stromski pacing the Blazers with 20 points and the Buffs got 12 points from Ashton Coangelo.

In the evening session for the Boys, Wheatland outlasted Powell 46-38 thanks to 22 points from Jacon Miller while Powell was paced by Alex Jordan with 17. Lovell, the #1 seed from the West downed Douglas 52-33 with Owen Walker throwing in 17 for the Bulldogs and Collin Roberts leading the Bearcats with 13.

In the semi-final round at Casper College on Friday night, 20-5 Cody plays 12-11 Torrington at 7 pm with Lovell at 24-2 taking on 16-11 Wheatland at 8:30.
