
Jaxson Neely of Wright Signs with Rocky Mt. for Basketball
Wright basketball star Jaxson Neely has found a place to land at the next level, and that's Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. He was an All-State selection in 2A in his senior year, averaging 22 points and 8 rebounds a game for the Panthers, shooting 53% from 2-point range. At 6-5, Neely has a lot of versatility and threw in 39 points against Shoshoni for a season high and 37 vs. Wyoming Indian.
In his junior season, he was named 2A All-State, averaging 20 points per game, shooting 52& from the 2-point range. Neely's season high was 38 points vs. Rocky Mountain and 31 against Tongue River. As a sophomore, he threw in a dozen points a game, so he has plenty of experience at the prep level. He'll be playing the Wyoming-Montana All-Star series and the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star game as well.
Neely puts his athleticism on display in track and field and took 2nd at the 2A Outdoor State Meet in Casper in the triple jump at 42-1.50. He was 3rd in the long jump at 21-3 and placed 8th in the high jump at 5-6. Neely also ran on Wright's 4x400 relay team that placed 4th.
At the 2024 2A Outdoor Championships, he was 3rd in the triple jump and 6th in the long jump while his 4x800 relay team took 6th. As a sophomore, Neely placed 5th at the State Meet in the long jump and 9th in the triple jump.
Rocky Mountain College is an NAIA institution that competes in the Frontier Conference. The Battlin' Bears were 19-11 last season in men's basketball
