The Kelly Walsh boys basketball program has endured a couple of trying seasons lately and the 2024-25 campaign didn't start out very well. But the Trojans found the winning formula with 3 wins in the Cheyenne Winter Showcase Tournament over the weekend to get to 3-5 on the season. KW beat both Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central and had a 2-point victory over Thunder Basin.

This team has just 2 seniors and only 2 sophomores on the varsity roster with 6-2 junior Mason Eager leading the way, averaging 14 points a game. He was an All-Conference selection in 4A last season and has taken the bull by the horns in 2024-25. He also has club experience in Colorado.

Senior Jack Nicholls made a name for himself last season as he averaged 9 points a game and that's what he is averaging so far this season. Nicholls and this team as a whole bring a defensive edge and that kind of effort will make life on offense a little bit easier.

We talked with Eager and Nicholls after their win over Central on Saturday and it's been quite a turnaround for this team
