Powell boys basketball player Gunnar Erickson certainly had a season to remember in 2024 as his team not only won the 3A State Championship but also finished the year 26-0. Erickson will stay right at home to continue his basketball career as he has signed with the Trappers of Northwest College.

This past season, Erickson led the Panthers in scoring as he averaged 14 points a game shooting 43% from the field. His season high in terms of scoring was a 25-point effort against Shoshoni and 22 vs. Cody

Erickson was very effective at the 3A State Tournament with 14 points in the title game vs. Wheatland, 17 in their win over Buffalo, and 13 in their victory over Rawlins. He was an All-State selection in 3A for the 2023-24 season.

In his junior year, Erickson was named 3A All-Conference as he threw in 13 points a game with a season-high 22 against Worland. He's also played soccer in his prep career at Powell.

Northwest College plays in the juco ranks of Region IX and went 14-18 this past season.
