The Southeast Cyclones have been a state championship contender for years and this program has 19 straight winning seasons. The Cyclones won their 2nd 1A State Championship in 3 years on Saturday in Casper with a 45-40 win over defending State Champion Upton. These 2 schools have met the last 3 years running for the 1A title with Southeast winning 2 of out 3.

The Cyclones don't have eye-popping stats when it comes to offense, yet they had 3 players in double figures on Saturday. Sasha Haines and Kaycee Kosmicki had 13 each with Baylie Booth chipping in a dozen. Haines and Kosmicki by the way were named All-State in 1A. But the Cyclones were ranked #1 in 1A on defense so they were as tough as nails.

Southeast started the State Tournament with a narrow win over Little Snake and followed that up with an upset of Cokeville in the semi-final round by 10 points. The Cyclones essentially won their match-up with Upton at the free-throw line, going 17-28. Kosmicki made 6 free throws in the last half minutes put the game away and she handled the pressure like it was nothing.

Southeast finished the season 20-7 and we chatted with Kosmicki and Haines after that dramatic victory at the Ford Center on Saturday. They made some huge plays down the stretch for their team.
