Boys’ swimming and diving teams are the first winter sport to reach their post-season this weekend.

Four sites are hosting the conference championships.

Class 3A competes in Douglas and Lyman. Class 4A will hold theirs in Casper and Cheyenne.

Next week will feature ‘Last Chance’ qualifying meets, and the state championships are in Gillette on Feb. 17-19, 2022.

Conference Meets

4A West – in Casper (Natrona County hosting at Kelly Walsh High School)

Teams = Evanston, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Rock Springs

Friday Schedule = Prelims at 3 p.m. (starts with 8 rounds of diving; swimming to follow)

Saturday Schedule = Finals at 10 a.m.

Team Scores: Laramie 456, Kelly Walsh 306, Rock Springs 201, Evanston 178, Natrona County 41

Laramie won 8 of the 12 events. Laramie's Lowden Ewers won the 200 and 500 freestyle races. John Spicer from Rock Springs captured the 50 and 100 freestyle races.

 

4A East – in Cheyenne at South High School

Teams = Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Sheridan, Thunder Basin

Friday Schedule = Prelims at 12:30 p.m. (starts with 8 rounds of diving; swimming to follow)

Saturday Schedule = Finals at 9 a.m.

Team Scores: Cheyenne Central 372, Sheridan 304, Cheyenne South 218, Cheyenne East 129, Thunder Basin 68, Campbell County 52

Central won 8 of the 12 events. Matt Pietsch won the 200 free and 100 back. Ethan Merrill won the IM and Breaststroke.

3A South – in Lyman at High School

Teams = Green River, Kemmerer, Lander, Lyman, Rawlins, Sublette County

Friday Schedule = Diving Prelims at noon (8 rounds of diving); Swim prelims at 3 p.m.

Saturday Schedule = Finals at 10 a.m.

Team Scores: Lander 457, Green River 205, Sublette County 161, Rawlins 150, Lyman 145, Kemmerer 124

Lander won 10 of the 12 events. Lander's Nolan McFadden won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Brennen Blackburn won the 200 freestyle and backstroke races. Jonny Kulow won the fly and breaststroke races. 

3A North (Absaraka Conf.) – in Douglas

Teams = Buffalo, Cody, Douglas, Newcastle, Powell, Riverton, Worland

Friday Schedule = Prelims at 1 p.m. (starts with 8 rounds of diving; swimming to follow)

Saturday Schedule = Finals at 10 a.m.

Team Scores: Buffalo 305, Powell 254, Worland 225, Riverton 209, Cody 146, Douglas 87, Newcastle 75

Buffalo won 6 of the 12 events. Riverton's Zachary Osborne won the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Nate Johnston from Powell won the IM and Breaststroke. Buffalo's Brogan Byrum won the sprint freestyle's (50 & 100).
