Because 4A teams were the only ones who played games that counted last week, we only took votes for that class, heading into week 1.

There's been a change atop the newest 4A coaches/media rankings. It was a close vote, but a shutout win last week, catapulted Gillette to the #1 rankings, by 1 vote ahead of now #2 Cheyenne East. The Camels take their ranking on the road this week, from one corner of the state to the other, as they visit new #5 Evanston. Natrona drops a spot to #3, but that matters very little if any. It's a big week, because this week is the rematch of last year's 4A State championship game, when the Mustangs visit the Thunderbirds. Last year's regular season game, went 3 OT's, and this year's game has a slight twist to it. East's new field/facilities are not ready for use. The game will still be played in Cheyenne, but it will be played at South. Elsewhere, Sheridan holds at #4, and visits a Kelly Walsh team trying to recover, from last week's crushing by the Camels.

The rankings for the other classes remain as they were, because no team played a regular season game last week.

Here's a recap:

3A: Powell is ranked #1, by 1 vote ahead of #2 Douglas. The 2 teams open the season vs. each other at Bearcat Stadium. #3 Cody hosts Buffalo, #4 Star Valley hosts Preston, Idaho, and #5 Riverton is home vs. Green River.
