The last week of the regular season is a big week in the latest coaches/media rankings, as teams are trying to either improve the playoff position, secure a post-season berth, tune up for the playoffs, or try to finish the season with a win.

The voters were unanimous in determining 1, 2, and 3 in Class 4A, but are split on #4 and #5. Gillette, Sheridan and Natrona are the first 3, then it's Rock Springs and East tied for #4. Gillette has the #1 seed secured and visits East is hopes of trying to keep their undefeated season in tact, but the Thunderbirds would love to spoil it, and secure a first round home playoff game. There's just as much on the line when Rock Springs visits Natrona, because the winner will get a first round home game, while the loser is on the road in the playoffs.

The biggest game of the week is in 3A as 2 unbeaten rivals square off, and another unbeaten will be paying attention. Torrington has moved into a tie for #1 with Star Valley, and the TrailBlazers maybe the motivating factor, when the Braves host #3 Jackson. There's a good chance that the loser of that game, will have to travel cross-state to Torrington in the semi-finals. Elsewhere, Douglas is back in the rankings at #4, and has a first round home playoff game on the line this week at unranked Buffalo. #5 Green River is still trying to secure a playoff spot, and so is their opponent this week...unranked Worland.

Big games are also on the 2A schedule this weekend. Top seeds still have to be determined as 4 of the top 5 teams play each other to determine which squad will have the better spot. Unanimous #1 Wheatland has never beaten #4 Big Horn, but if they can take care of business this weekend, they can take care of that problem and secure the east #1 seed. BH still has a chance, but needs to rely on a coin flip. Then there's the Big Horn County battle as #5 Lovell visits #2 Greybull. The top 2 seeds in the west are still up for grabs. Glenrock stays put at #3 and plays a non-conference game this weekend, so they will just wait and see where they end up in the bracket.

It's probably been a bit overdue, but Shoshoni is on top of Class 1A. The undefeated Wranglers have been close to the top spot all season, and now they have it. Shoshoni heads to #5 Riverside this weekend, to try to secure the west #1 seed, however the Rebels will be looking for some redemption after losing last week. Last week's #1 Lingle-Ft. Laramie dropped to #3, by 1 vote behind Upton-Sundance who is #2. The Doggers control their own playoff destiny and just needs to win to secure the east #1 seed. #4 Tongue River is up 1 spot to #4 after their big win last week. They have the longest road trip of any team this weekend, to Pine Bluffs. The Hornets are not out of the hunt, but have no chance of making the playoffs, if they lose.

The new 6-man rankings only saw a small amount of change. Farson-Eden and Little Snake River switch spots, with the Pronghorns at #3 and the Rattlers at #4. These 2 teams will settle their difference this weekend, with the west #2 seed on the line. Meanwhile, Meeteetse is still the unanimous #1, Kaycee remains at #2, and Hulett stays at #5.
