The Cheyenne Central girls basketball team is off to a flying start with a 9-1 record and posted 3 decisive wins in the Winter Showcase Tournament in Cheyenne over the weekend. The Indians didn't have much trouble with Natrona, Kelly Walsh, and Green River but certainly will be tested as the season goes on.

This team has a powerful 1-2 combination with seniors Izzy Kelly and Karson Tempel. Kelly was a 4A All-State selection in 2024 and is averaging 11 points a game. She's an All-State Softball player and made All-Conference in volleyball. Tempel has been averaging 14 points a game this season and was an All-Conference pick on the hardwood in 2024. She's a terrific athlete who is the reigning 4A  Outdoor Track & Field State Champion in the Triple jump with a leap of 38-3.5. She also ran in the Central's 4x400 meter relay team that took 5th at the State Meet.

We talked with Kelly and Tempel after their victory over Kelly Walsh and they both enjoyed the weekend.
