Sheridan Girls Basketball Postgame Remarks (Video)
The Sheridan girl's basketball team went 3 for 3 at the Winter Showcase Tournament in Cheyenne over the weekend so the Broncs sport an 8-0 record. The Broncs have re-tooled this year after winning the 4A State Championship in 2024. The program graduated some pretty good players but has the talent this season to be more than formidable.
Leading the way for Sheridan is 5-11 sophomore Mesa Hanft who was an All-State selection last season and also made All-State in volleyball in 2024. She also excels at track and field with a 3rd place in the triple jump at the 4A State Outdoor Meet and 4th in the 300 hurdles. In basketball, she had been averaging 14 points a game.
5-5 junior point guard Ella Bilyeu has been throwing in 9 points a game and shows defensive skills as well. She also plays tennis for Sheridan and qualified for the State Tournament in #1 singles. This team also has an All-Conference soccer player in Avery McMullen so there's no shortage of athletic ability on this squad.
We talked with Bilyeu and Hanft after their big win over Rock Springs on Saturday in Cheyenne. Improvement is the name of the game.
