Wyoming High School Indoor Track Scoreboard: Feb. 4-5, 2022
It might be only the fourth week of the season, but the midpoint is here, and the state championships are only one month away.
Gillette draws the biggest attendance for Friday’s Basin Nation meet. Some schools or individuals are heading to Colorado or Utah for some different competitions.
Friday, Feb. 4:
Basin Nation Invite from the Campbell County Recreation Center Fieldhouse: Field Events at 10 a.m. & Track Events at 10:30 a.m.
Teams Attending: Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Cody, Douglas, Glenrock, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Lovell, Natrona County, Pinedale, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Star Valley, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy, Worland
Torrington's Jordan Stoddard (Southeast HS) was the lone 3-event winner. She took first place in the 55-meters, the high jump, and the long jump (by nearly two feet). Cheyenne Central's Sydney Morrell won the 400 and 1600-meters.
Sheridan's Carter McComb won the 55 and 200-meters and was the only 2-event winner on the boys' side.
No teams scores were kept.
Air Force High School Indoor Open in Cadet Fieldhouse at USAFA in Colorado Springs, CO: Field & Track Events start at 5:30 p.m.
Burns/Pine Bluffs standout Emma Gonzalez won the women's 2-mile in 12:08.56.
Campbell County's Braik Hurm took third in the 2-mile run. Nyomi Moore placed fifth in the high jump. Sydalee Brown, Brandon Werkele, and Remar Pitter were top-8 in the prelims of the 60-meters and 200-meters to qualify for the finals.
Utah Distance Challenge at the Olympic Ice Oval in Kearns, UT: Races start at 4:30 p.m. (400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m)

Saturday, Feb. 5:
Air Force High School Indoor Open in Cadet Fieldhouse at USAFA in Colorado Springs, CO: Field Events start at 8 a.m. & Track Events start at 10:55 a.m.
Campbell County's Remar Pitter and Brandon Werkele took fourth and fifth in the 60-meters. Werkele was second in the 200-meters, while Pitter placed fifth. Braik Hurm was fifth in the 1-mile run. Pitter was second at the high jump with a 6-2. Pitter won the long jump at 23-9.25. Ian Carter placed sixth in the long jump. Cooper Stevens was second in the shot put. Sydalee Brown took fifth in the 60-meters and third in the 200-meters. Campbell County was also third in the women's mile relay. Nyomi Moore placed fifth in the women's high jump and sixth in the long jump. McKenna Hayes was second in the women's shot put.
Burns/Pine Bluffs' Emma Gonzalez placed fifth in the 1-mile run. Monse Serrano was fourth in the women's shot put.
