The 2023-24 high school Nordic Skiing season begins this weekend in Lander.

That’s a venue change for the opening race. The original site was at the Happy Jack Rec Area east of Laramie, but due to lack of snow, a switch was made to the schedule.

The Lander Invite will be at the Lander Golf Club.

Friday’s skiing is a 4 km Classic race at 1 p.m. The varsity boys will ski first, then the varsity girls in the Lower Meadow of the golf course.

Ally Wheeler of Natrona County won the Friday classic race at 8:44. Emily Anderson of Lander was second (9:24.8), and Emma Pearson of Kelly Walsh was third (9:35.2).

Jack Voos from Laramie won the boys' race at 8:10.5. Luke Pearson of Kelly Walsh was second (8:12.5), and Jackson's William Baxter took third (8:12.8).
