The best teams in state are starting to separate themselves from the rest in the latest coaches/media rankings.

Sheridan retains the #1 ranking in Boys 4A, but this weekend will be very interesting in regards to the 2 teams behind them. Riverton and Gillette are tied for #2, and battle each other this Saturday in Fremont County. Green River moves up 1 spot to #4, after winning the tournament in Worland, while Laramie is back in at #5, 1 vote behind the Wolves, and 1 vote ahead of Cheyenne East, who they play on Thursday.

For the 3A Boys...Jackson may have lost their first game of the season last week, because they are still the top team in the rankings. This time though, it's unanimous. Meanwhile, Torrington has at its highest point ever at #2. The TrailBlazers moved up, when other teams stumbled. Worland is one vote behind them at #3, and have a big rematch this weekend, when they visit #4 Lander. This is the rescheduled game from the beginning of the season, that got called off, due to bad weather. Buffalo takes the #5 ranking, and will have their hands full this weekend with 4A competition, when they travel to #2 Gillette, and host #1 Sheridan.

In the latest 4A Girls rankings, the East Conference's stranglehold on the top 5 has been loosened a little bit...that's because there's 6 teams this week. Sheridan moves up to the #1 spot, after now #2 Gillette took a slight tumble last week. East holds steady at #3, while Laramie is up 1 spot to #4. The Lady Plainsmen and Lady Thunderbirds play each other Thursday in Cheyenne. Green River is the first west team to crack the rankings this season, as the Lady Wolves are #5, but have to share it with Cheyenne Central.

This will be a busy week in the 3A Girls Rankings. For the moment there's no change from last week, but let's see what happens after #2 and undefeated Cody, play in back-to-back road contests vs. #1 Star Valley and #3 Jackson. Elsewhere, Worland and Buffalo maintain their #4 and #5 spots.

Regional Rankings: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has released it's latest national and regional rankings. No Wyoming boys team is ranked nationally or regionally. As for the girls, no team is ranked nationally either, but Gillette is ranked #5 is Region 5, however we believe the voting was done before the Lady Camels had their weekend split vs. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. Region 5 consists of teams from Wyoming, Colorado, California and Alaska.
