
PhotoFest! Thunder Basin & Kelly Walsh Split Softball Twinbill
Casper-Kelly Walsh had their home opener in softball on Monday afternoon at the Field of Dreams Complex and played host to defending State Champion Thunder Basin. The first game of the doubleheader was a conference game, and Thunder Basin jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 2 innings of play to win it 15-6. That was the Bolts' 9th consecutive victory to start the season.
Thunder Basin had a solid effort at the plate with Danica Shawver, Kalissa Terrell and Izzy Carter all hitting home runs. Shawver and Terrell had 3 hits and 3 runs batted with the Bolts pounding out 17 hits in the game. Thunder Basin pitcher Paige Shaffer has been tough this season and went the distance, giving up 6 runs and striking out 6.
Kelly Walsh did score 4 times in the 5th inning and had a dozen hits in the game as Kayla Clair had 3 hits and a run scored. The Trojans got serious in the nightcap of the doubleheader as they handed Thunder Basin their 1st loss of the season 18-9. KW exploded for 12 runs in the 3rd inning, with Rachel Hoyt driving in 6 runs with 2 hits.
