PhotoFest! Evanston Track Meet

The track and field season moved along last week with the Rick and Wendy Schuler Invitational in Evanston. Teams from the southwest part of the state competed in this event, and on the girls' side, it was a tight race for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as Evanston rang up 118 points, Big Piney with 116.5, and Rock Springs 3rd with 145.5. Kemmerer's

Laynee Walker, one of the state's finest athletes, won both hurdle events and the pole vault. She is the defending 2A State Champion in all 3 of those events and is a State Champion wrestler. Brynn Bider of Rock Springs also won 3 events, the 100 and 200 meter dashes, plus the long jump.

The Evanston boys took 1st place in this meet with 178 points, Rock Springs 2nd with 111.5, and Star Valley 3rd with 104. They were followed by Kemmerer, Big Piney, Mountain View, Green River, and Lyman. Here is the rundown of the top two finishers in each event.
