There’s been wind, cold, and snow this week. That must mean it’s time for the high school outdoor track and field season to start across Wyoming.

There are three in-state events with the biggest in Casper and Pavillion. Some teams are heading out of state, while some schools are not competing this weekend.

SATURDAY, MARCH 20:

Glen Legler Memorial Early Bird at Natrona County HS – Arvada-Clearmont, Big Horn, Campbell County, Douglas, Glenrock, Kaycee, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Midwest, Natrona County, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Thunder Basin, Wheatland, Worland, Wright

Natrona County swept the team titles. The girls scored 152 points and won by 65 points. The Fillies won seven events. The NC boys scored 167 points and won by a margin of 51.5 points. The Mustangs won five events.

Campbell County's Sydalee Brown won the 100 and 200 meters and was second in the triple jump. NC's Alesha Lane swept the throwing events.

Wheatland's Rodee Brow won the 100 and 400 meters, plus the pole vault. Lander's Gage Gose swept the two hurdle races. NC's Kaiden Lee won the high jump and long jump. Kelly Walsh's Cam Burkett swept the throwing events.

Sheridan at Buffalo – dual

Girls Team Scores: Sheridan 95.16 Buffalo 31.83

Sheridan's Addie Pendergast won the 100 and 400 meters. Teammate Preslee Moser won the high jump and the triple jump.

Boys Team Scores: Sheridan 121 Buffalo 20

Sheridan's Dominic Kaszas won the 100 and 200 meters. Teammate Carl Askins won the 400-meters and the long jump. Another teammate, Conner McKinney won the 110-hurdles and the triple jump. The Broncs won 16 of the 17 events.

Wind River Invitational in Pavillion – Big Piney, Burlington, Dubois, H.E.M., Greybull, Jackson, Kemmerer, Pinedale, Saratoga, Thermopolis, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy, Wind River

The Kemmerer girls and Burlington boys won the team titles.

Riverside's Vaidyn Vanderploeg won the 100 and 200 meters. Saratoga's Whitney Bennett won the 300-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Katy Dexter from Pinedale won both throwing events.

Wyatt Trembly from Dubois won 400-meters and both hurdle events. Jackson's Jack Joyce won the 100 and 200 meters. Owen Burnett from Kemmerer won the 1600 and 3200 meters. Encampment's Quade Jordan won both throwing events.

Out-of-State events:

2022 Early Bird Invitational at Mountain View HS in Orem, UT – Evanston

Red Devils girls finished 15th with 18 team points, while the boys were 12th with 21.333 team points.

Stacia Barker was 4th in the 100-meter hurdles and 6th in the high jump. Gabe Hutchinson took 2nd in the 400-meters and 4th in the 200-meters. Aspen Griggs was 2nd in the girls' shot put and 6th in the discus. Payton Vernon placed 3rd in the boys' shot put.

2022 Herriman Invitational in Herriman, UT – Green River, Lyman, Star Valley

Star Valley was 7th, Lyman 10th, and Green River 12th in the girls' team standings.

Star Valley and Green River tied for 10th and Lyman was 25th in the boys' team standings.

Star Valley's Sara McKen won the 200-meters in 26.89 seconds. She and Valerie Jirak were 3rd and 4th in the 100-meters. John Bunting was 2nd in the 1600-meters and 3rd in the 800-meters for the boys. Habtamu Wetzel took 3rd in the 3200-meters. The Star Valley swept the sprint medley relay. The girls won with a time of 4:50.63, and the boys finished first at a time of 3:57.20.

Green River's Hayden Roberts won the high jump at 6-0 on the fewest attempts. He was 2nd in the 110-meter hurdles. Lillian Munoz took 5th in the 100-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles. The Green River girls were 3rd in the 4x800 meter relay. Kaelea Gibson placed 3rd in the high jump. Cole Murray was 2nd in the discus.

Lyman's Caroline Bradshaw took 2nd in the long jump, while Sage Bradshaw was 4th. Kendyll Dickerson was 4th in the shot put. Brice Hansen placed 3rd in the discus. Hallie Bluemel came in 4th in the 100-meter hurdles.

CSC High School Open at Chadron State College in Chadron, NE (indoor meet) – Southeast

Jordan Stoddard won the 60-meter dash, the high jump, and the long jump. Shelby Ekwall won the shot put. Ryan Clapper won the 200-meters and took 2nd in the 60 and 400-meters.

Murray Kula Invitational at Windsor HS in Windsor, CO – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne South

Central's Bridger Brokaw won the 800-meters and Tristan Knueppel won the 1600-meters.
