It is the final week of the track and field regular season in Wyoming. This is Week 8.

If student-athletes want to pre-qualify for the state track meet, these are their final chances. Next week will feature the regional track and field championships.

There is at least one in-state track meet scheduled each day this week in the state.

MONDAY, MAY 1:

Nancy Steinberg Invitational in Rawlins – Encampment, H.E.M., Little Snake River, Rawlins, Rock River.

Girls Team Scores = Rawlins 271.50, Encampment 61, Little Snake River 39, H.E.M. 38.50, Rock River 30.

Boys Team Scores = Rawlins 276, Encampment 97, Little Snake River 82, H.E.M. 16, Rock River 3.

Eva Nitschke won 3 events - both hurdle races & the triple jump. Trista Palmer of Rawlins won the 100 & 200 meters.

Little Snake River's Hadley Myers won the 200 meters & 110 hurdles.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 2:

Camel JV Meet in Gillette – Buffalo, Campbell County, Kelly Walsh, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin; Out-of-state: Rapid City Central (SD), Rapid City Stevens (SD), Spearfish (SD).

Central Freshmen-Sophomore Meet in Cheyenne – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie, Rock River.

Jeff Hereford Invitational in Mountain View – Evanston, Kemmerer, Lyman, Mountain View.

Girls Team Scores = Mountain View 144, Kemmerer 132, Evanston 102, Lyman 83.

Boys Team Scores = Mountain View 192.33, Evanston 167.66, Lyman 89, Kemmerer 64.

Puncher Invite in Big Piney – Big Piney, Farson-Eden, Pinedale.

2023 Custer HS Invite in Custer, SD – Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Upton.

Mallory Jones of Moorcroft won the 800 meters. Marcus James of Moorcroft won the 3200 meters. Newcastle's Elizabeth Rushton won the javelin throw. Julie Morris of Newcastle won the long jump.  

Best in the West Classic at Scottsbluff, NE – Burns, Cheyenne East, Chugwater, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk, Moorcroft, Torrington, Upton, Wheatland.

Girls Team Scores = Upton 1st - 137; Lusk 3rd - 103.5; Wheatland 4th - 82.5; Moorcroft 5th - 55; Cheyenne East 7th - 6.

Boys Team Scores = Lusk 2nd - 114.5; Wheatland 3rd - 113; Upton 4th - 94.5; Moorcroft 5h - 47; Cheyenne East 7th - 12; Chugwater & Glendo T-8th = 11.

Torrington's Brooklyn Ausmus and Brendan Flock swept the 100 & 200 meters.

Bulldog Invite in Sundance – Arvada-Clearmont, Hulett, Kaycee, Midwest, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Upton, Wright.

Camel Qualifier in Gillette at Campbell County HS – Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Douglas, Glenrock, Hulett, Kelly Walsh, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Tongue River; out-of-state: Rapid City Central (SD), Rapid City Christian (SD), Rapid City Stevens (SD), Spearfish (SD), Sturgis Brown (SD).

Lynn Williams Memorial in Jackson – Jackson, Rock Springs, Star Valley; Out-of-State = Teton (Driggs, ID).

SEWAC Meet in Burns – Burns, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk, Pine Bluffs, Southeast.

 

Out-of-State events:

2023 PACS BYU InvitationalBig Piney, Cokeville, Evanston, Green River, Kemmerer, Lander, Lyman, Mountain View, Newcastle, Pinedale, Star Valley.

Lander's Gage Gose had the fastest times in the meet and won the 1A-3A 110 & 300 hurdles.

Big Piney's Colby Jenks won the 1A-3A 800 meters. Evanston won the boys' 4x400 relay for the 1A-3A division. Gabe Hutchinson of Evanston won the 1A-3A 400 meters. Lyman's Sage Bradshaw won the 1A-3A girls' long jump. Caroline Bradshaw of Lyman won the girls' 1A-3A discus.

Evanston took 2nd in the 1A-3A boys' team standings.
