Volleyball teams have been playing hard on the court for the past 3 weekends, and now the coaches and media have a pretty good idea on which teams to rank.

The 2-time defending champs from Cheyenne East lead the way in 4A. Conference rival Laramie, isn't far behind them at #2, with Kelly Walsh at #3 and Gillette at #4. Green River and Sheridan share the #5 ranking. Weekend conference games has East visiting Gillette and Sheridan, and GR goes to KW. Laramie has the weekend off.

In the 3A rankings, Star Valley lays claim to the top spot, after finishing first at the Rawlins Invitational this past weekend. The Lady Braves are undefeated vs. Wyoming opponents, and may be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Last year SV had the #1 seed from the west going into the state tournament, and proceeded to go 2-and-done. Defending champ Worland has the #2 ranking, and should get a good match at home on Friday vs. #4 Douglas. Another Friday matchup has the other 2 ranked teams playing each other, when #3 Buffalo hosts #5 Cody.

It's Wright's world in the 2A rankings. The 2-time defending champs received double the number of votes compared to #2 Lovell. Pine Bluffs is 1 vote back of the Lady Bulldogs at #3. Sundance has been surprising a few teams here and there and take the #4 position. It's been awhile since the Lady Bulldogs from Crook County have received some attention. Meanwhile, Glenrock is ranked #5, and travels to play #2 Lovell on Saturday.

The Encampment Lady Tigers are queens of the 1A mountain. The defending champs are off to an undefeated start, and dealt #2 Lingle-Ft. Laramie their only loss of the season this past weekend. #3 Little Snake River and #4 Farson-Eden will both play the Thermopolis tournament this weekend. At #5, it's Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow. The Lady Miners are scheduled to play at Encampment on Friday.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
