The Wyoming Indian girls captured their first 2A state championship since 2004 in dramatic fashion as Alex Trosper canned a 30 footer at the buzzer to beat Southeast 49-46. This team lost just one game this season and that was to 3A Lyman. At the state tournament this year, the Lady Chiefs knocked off Big Horn in the first round 59-47 as Siona Astorga led the way with 17. Angela Astorga had 14 with Trosper chipping in 10. In the 2A semi-finals, the Chiefs had their hands full with a good Pine Bluffs squad but prevailed in that match 63-54. Angela Astorga had 15, Sandie Friday had 13 and Siona Astorga had a dozen. That state championship game vs. Southeast was a classic and Trosper will be remembered for that buzzer beater for a long, long time. Trosper had just 8 points but Angela Astorga was sensational with 18 points on 8-10 from the field. Both Siona Astorga and Trosper were named all-state as each averaged 13 points a game. They were both seniors so the team will have a new complexion in 2019-2020
