A pair of evenly matched teams met for the 2A Girls Basketball Championship in Casper on Saturday as Tongue River took on Lingle Fort Laramie. Tongue River was the #1 seed from the East and qualified for the State Tournament for the 3rd straight year after 6 years of not qualifying for State.

Lingle Fort-Laramie was the #2 seed from the East and lost to Burns in last year's 2A Final so they were used to playing in big games. The Doggers had a 4-point lead at halftime but TR rallied in the 2nd half as they were 11-20 from the floor in that 2nd stanza. That effort helped neutralize a 3-18 shooting night from the 3-point line. The Eagles withstood a shooting barrage from LFL's Skyla Wunder who was 9-17 from the floor and poured in 25 points. The Doggers' long 3-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark giving Tongue River their first state title since 2014 thanks to that 46-43 victory.

The Eagles were paced by sophomore Chaney Reish who had 12 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Jazlyn Ryan went 6-7 from the field and finished with a dozen points. Freshman Afton Cummings has a bright future as she was in double figured with 10. Tongue River finished the season 24-3 and Lingle Fort-Laramie went 22-6.
