For our feature, WyoPreps spoke with both head coaches ahead of this game. We chatted with Torrington head coach Russell Stienmetz and Wheatland’s coach, Cody Bohlander. Coach Stienmetz pointed to the growth of his team, the role Beau Bivens plays, how his team is playing on both sides of the ball, key playmakers, the game against Wheatland, and more. Coach Bohlander touched on the loss to Burns and how that might turn out to be a good thing, the rivalry with the Trailblazers, how similar the two teams are on offense, improvements needed on defense, and more.

The two teams rank No. 2 and No. 3 in total offense in Class 2A. The Blazers average nearly 15 yards more per game on offense, 344-to-329. Torrington is the leading scoring team in the class at 35.4 points per game, while Wheatland is at 29.8 points per game. The Bulldogs have the edge defensively. According to wyoming-football.com, the series began in 1923. Torrington has dominated and leads the all-time series, 77-19 with one tie. The Blazers have won the last four games between the two schools.
