Coming off an All-State junior season, Sheridan senior Gus Wright has a lot to look forward to during this 2019-2020 basketball season.

WyoPreps.com is featuring student-athletes in various winter sports throughout the 2019-2020 season. First up is Sheridan’s Gus Wright.

Wright has helped the Broncs get off to a 4-1 start so far this season. He’s averaging 20 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 58 percent from the field.

Last year, he was part of a dominant Sheridan squad that lost one game to an in-state team. The Broncs finished 24-2 overall and third place at the Class 4A State Tournament. Wright averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots per game last year. He shot 58 percent from the floor, which included 41 percent from 3-point range.

WyoPreps’ David Settle had a chance a few weeks back to visit with Gus Wright about the new season, his senior year, the change in this season’s Sheridan team, playing for Coach Jeff Martini, already signing to play college basketball at Colorado State-Pueblo, and more in the video above.

Wright has helped the Broncs to a No. 2 ranking in the most recent WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Boys’ Basketball Poll. He’s certainly one to watch in Class 4A boys’ basketball this year.
