In the first of our Winter Championship Reviews, WyoPreps looks back on some of the standout performances at the 2026 Wyoming High School Boys’ Swimming and Diving State Championships on February 19 through February 21, 2026, in Cheyenne. These three days produced some outstanding performances from some of the top swimmers and divers around the state. The spotlight fell on Ben Forsythe, Cy Gallion, Brady Hunt, Everett Thomas, and Bryson Laing.

WYOPREPS BOYS STATE SWIMMING SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEWS 2026

Sheridan senior Ben Forsythe swam two All-America times in his two individual events. Forsythe was named the 4A Athlete of the Meet and 4A Athlete of the Year. He won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke races for the third consecutive year. His time in the finals of the 50 Free was 20.28 seconds. Ben was closer to the state record in the prelims at 20.22 seconds. That earned Forsythe automatic All-American honors. He won the 100-yard breaststroke race at 56.54 seconds, and that was good enough for All-American consideration.

Campbell County juniors Cy Gallion and Brady Hunt were two stars at the 4A championships. The duo won two events apiece. Gallion won the 200 IM and 500 Free, while Hunt was first in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly. Cy touched the wall at 1:57.83 in the IM and was first in the 500 Free at 4:51.94, which was nearly nine seconds ahead of the next competitor. Hunt swam the 200 Free in 1:46.56 and won by just over two seconds. He followed that with a second straight crown in the 100 Fly at 52.40 seconds.

Buffalo junior Everett Thomas won the 3A championship in the 50 and 100 Freestyle races. He touched the wall in 20.72 seconds in the 50 Free. That is an All-American consideration time. Everett rolled to a 2-plus second victory in the 100 Free at 47.04 seconds. Thomas also swam a leg on two title-winning relays for the Bison, the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. He was selected as the 3A Athlete of the Meet and the co-3A Athlete of the Year.

Cody senior Bryson Laing won his second consecutive 3A diving state championship. Laing scored 474.45 points across 11 dives. He qualified for All-American honors. Bryson shared the 3A Athlete of the Year award with Thomas. Laing capped an undefeated season against 3A competition.
