Two defending champions start the girls basketball season ranked #1 in the 2014-2015 girls basketball pre-season coaches/media rankings.

Some are anticipating a changing of the guard in 4A, and parity could dominate, considering all the talent that graduated from last season. Sheridan who placed 3rd last season, starts out at #1. Gillette takes the #2 spot, while defending champ Natrona is #3. Both the Lady Camels and Fillies will start the season at the Camel Invitational. 2 of the 3 Cheyenne schools round out the rankings. Runner-up East is #4 (1 vote behind Natrona) and Central is #5. Both the Lady Thunderbirds and Lady Indians will start their seasons in Colorado.

Like the boys, the 3A girls could be the most competitive class this season. Defending champ Douglas is ranked #1 with all but 2 1st place votes. Those 2 went to Mountain View who is ranked #3, while Powell is one spot ahead of them. State runner-up Worland checks in at #4, and Star Valley is #5. #1, #3 and #4 will all gather in Lander to start the season.

The 2-time defending 2A champs are still on top, until some team can beat them, but a newcomer is hoping to do just that. Tongue River is still #1, but Lyman is not far behind them at #2, and Southeast not far behind them at #3. After that, there's a huge gap in the voting. Wyoming Indian occupies the #4 spot and Big Horn at #5.

For the third time in 4 season, Cokeville is on top of the 1A world to start the season. Behind them is Little Snake River at #2, then Burlington at #3. Defending champ Lingle-Ft. Laramie has to share the #4 spot with Upton, while Encampment missed out of the rankings by 1 vote.
