Cheyenne East has been one of the stalwarts in 4A volleyball with state championships in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016. This year, the T-Birds placed 4th at the state tournament and they did have a couple of all-state selections in Elysiana Fonseca and Boden Liljedahl, In fact, Liljedahl was named the 4A Defensive Player of the Year. East also had a couple of all-conference picks in Kiera Walsh and Ashley Marshall.

East began state tournament play by taking on Rock Springs, the #1 seed from the West. The Thunderbirds made quick work of the Tigers winning in three straight, 26-24, 25-20, and 25-21. In the semi-finals, East lost a hard-fought battle with Kelly Walsh; 22-25, 25-2-, 25-15, and 25-23. The Thunderbirds concluded the season with a 3-0 loss to Thunder Basin in the 3rd place match; 25-14, 25-11, and 25-16 to finish 13-9.

Both of Cheyenne East's all-state players, Fonseca and Liljedahl were sophomores in 2020. So that bodes well for the future of the program. Walsh was a junior which is an added bonus but the T-Birds will have to replace 4 seniors headed into the 2021 season.
