The Greybull boys basketball team certainly had their struggles in the regular season but at the 2A West Regional tournament, the Buffaloes won the single game that would determine whether they made the state tournament of night. In that first round of regionals. Greybull beat Shoshoni 49-40 to punch their ticket to Casper. The Buffs were the #4 seed from the west headed into the state tournament.

In the quarterfinal round at state, Greybull had to take on Sundance and it was a rough afternoon for the Buffaloes as they absorbed a 55-36 loss. Jesus Hernandez was the only Greybull player in double-figures with 10 with Cody Henderson chipping in 9.

In the consolation round, Greybull lost to Big Horn 47-40 to finish the season 7-15. Hernandez had 15 and Carlos Rodriguez had 9. Hernandez was named all-conference as he averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game. Rodriguez averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds per game and was an all-conference pick as well.

Hernandez was a senior so the Buffaloes are going to miss him but Rodriguez was a freshman. The program made a big step forward as they qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2016. The question is whether that progress can be sustained. We have a short video to share with you about the Greybull squad in the state tournament. Enjoy!
