It was another year and another trip to the 1A state tournament for the Kaycee girls basketball team. They finished 17-5 in 2020-21 and placed 4th at state, coming off a 2nd place finish in the 2019-20 season.

The Bucs did have an all-state player in Tinley Pierson who averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds per game. Three other players earned all-conference distinction; Bindi Hill Jackie Rameriz and Sierra Kilts who averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds per game.

In the first round of the state tournament, Kaycee defeated 34-8 and it wasn't a great shooting day for the Bucs, connecting 31% of their shots. Pierson had 9 to lead the way but the Kaycee defense really made life difficult for Ten Sleep in this contest. In the semi-final round, the Bucs ran into Upton and this was a very competitive game. It went right down to the wire with Kaycee losing 34-33. The Bucs struggled from the field and Pierson had a dozen to lead the team in scoring. Kaycee did hold Upton to 26% shooting from the floor.

In the 3rd place game, Kaycee was defeated by Southeast 39-34 as Sierra Kilts had 15. Looking forward to next season. the team will certainly miss Pierson but the team returns three all-conference players. That should put them right in the mix in 2021-22.
