For the 3rd consecutive year, Luke Goncalves of Worland won the 160 pound 3A state championship. For the 2nd consecutive year, Goncalves won the title with a quick 1st-period pin. This year was about a half-minute quicker than last year but Goncalves made quick work of Jackson Wood of Cody. He is a powerful, determined wrestler who lost just twice this season with 30 wins and won a state championship as a sophomore with a major decision. Wood is a sophomore and put a solid season in the books at 24-13. Pinedale's Kaleb Bigelow took 3rd place and gave Goncalves all he could handle in the semi-final round before losing 6-2. Bigelow pinned Joseph Thompson of Star Valley to cap the year at 33-4. Thompson was 22-9. Star Valley's Joshua Semadeni placed 5th with a pin of Kael Matthews of Douglas.

In 4A, Jackson Hesford of Cheyenne East is one of the finest all-around athletes in the state. He is a two-time all-state football selection, he won a baseball state championship with Post 6, and now is a state champion wrestler. Hesford outlasted Sheridan sophomore Colson Coon 7-3 to finish the year with a remarkable 42-1 record. Coon went 23-6 this season. Kelly Walsh's Sam Henderson took 3rd with a narrow 2-1 decision over Cash Christensen of Rock Springs. Henderson was 23-12 and Christensen went 36-6. The 4A 5th place guy was Cheyenne Central's Nathan Lundberg who defeated Colby Olson of Cheyenne East 7-2.

Finally in 2A, first it was Pehton Truempler of Shoshoni winning a state title and then his brother Tryston followed in his footsteps with a state title at 160 pounds. In fact, it was Tryston's 2nd state championship, and this year it was a quick 1st-period pin over Jacob Goodrich of Wright. Truempler won 37 of 39 matches this season and also was terrific in football. Goodrich ended the season with a record of 30-9. In 3rd place, it was Eli Linford of Cokeville who pinned Casen Smith of Kemmerer. Linford was 27-7 this season while Smith was 17-7. Joe Kennah from Hulett earned a 5th place medal with a pin of Corden Philips of Glenrock.
