A standout track and field performer and a star boys’ soccer player were selected as recent WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. Wright sophomore Mili Meza Perdomo and Jackson senior Kyrem Berestain were the winners. Perdomo went four-for-four in individual events at a track meet two weeks ago. Berestain accounted for 11 points in two matches for the top-ranked Broncs. WyoPreps looked back on performances from the competition week of April 20 through April 25, 2026, and chose these two student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision. I apologize for the delay in this announcement. My schedule impacted the timing of this story.

Mili Meza Perdomo won all four of her individual events at the Speed Goat Classic in Newcastle. She won the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, and the high jump. Perdomo ran 12.56 seconds in the 100-meter dash. She took first in the 200-meter dash at 25.95 seconds. In the 100 hurdles, Mili crossed the finish line at 15.77 seconds and won by more than one second. Perdomo cleared 5-3 and captured the high jump title. She has pre-qualified for the state track championships in all four events. Perdomo's effort helped Wright win the team title at the Speed Goat Classic with 180.50 team points. Just for good measure, last week Mili won three events at the Basin Nation Invite in Gillette and added a victory in the 100 hurdles at the Wyoming Track and Field Classic, as well as a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles.

WyoPreps visited with Mili to reflect on her performances. We discussed going 4-for-4 in one track meet, how she balances competing in four events at one track meet, what she focuses on in each event, how she fell in love with track and field, and more.

Boys’ Winner

Kyrem Berestain helped the Jackson Broncs go 2-0 in 4A West Conference matches during the week of his selection (April 20-25, 2026). That included a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Kelly Walsh. In that match, Berestain had the brace, which means he scored both of Jackson’s goals in the big showdown. Kyrem added two goals and three assists in a 7-0 win over Natrona County. His 11-point weekend helped Jackson improve to 9-0-1 on the season at that time. Jackson is one of two undefeated teams in boys’ soccer in the state. They have now won the 4A West Conference regular season title and will be the top seed at the regional tournament next weekend at home in Jackson.

WyoPreps was unable to catch up with Kyrem Berestain before this article was published.

Congratulations to Mili and Kyrem on being chosen as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
