Two track and field standouts who excelled in their four individual events were selected as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. Wheatland sophomore Raelyn Goff and Powell sophomore Braxton Nelson were the winners. Goff won three events at the Wheatland Invite and took second in a fourth event. Nelson did the same thing at the D&D Invite in Worland. WyoPreps analyzed performances from the competition week of March 30 through April 4, 2026, and chose these two student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision.

Nelson was one of the stars at the D&D Invitational in Worland on April 2. He won the 100 meters, the high jump, the triple jump, and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters. The sophomore scored 35 points in the track meet and helped Powell win the team title at the track meet with 165.75 team points. Nelson ran 11.34 seconds for a victory in the 100 meters by 0.07 seconds. Braxton leaped 6-4 and took first in the high jump. He won that event by over a foot. Nelson’s best mark in the triple jump was 44 feet. He won by almost three feet. Braxton ran 24.38 seconds in the 200 meters, and that was 0.31 seconds behind the winner.

WyoPreps visited with Nelson about his effort at the track meet in Worland earlier this month. He said good practices led to what he did in that track meet. Braxton said he enjoys sprinting and jumping, even though it can be hectic for him at a track meet. He discussed how he approaches the sprints, how his dad has aided him in the 200, praised his jumps coach for her help in the high jump, discussed his strategy in the high, long, and triple jump, and a lot more.

Congratulations to Raelyn and Braxton on being chosen as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
