It took a while, but the Upton boys basketball team finally reached the promised land by taking the 1A state championship back in March in Casper. The Bobcats knocked off defending champion Saratoga in the title game 69-54 thanks to an all-star performance from Luca Brooks who threw in 30 points. Jess Claycomb had 15 and those 2 guys were all-state selection for the Bobcats, along with Brayden Bruce. Reece Barritt was named all-conference on a team that was ranked #1 offensively in 1A and #2 defensively.  Upton reached the championship game with a quarterfinal round win over Burlington and a sem-final round victory over Dubois

For the season, Brooks averaged 19 points a game, and this team reeled off 21 straight wins after long their season opener.  Jess Claycomb averaged 13 points a game and finished his career with 1286 points, which is 3rd in school history. Brayden Bruce averaged 7 points a game and finished his prep career with 277 assists; 4th in school history. Reece Barritt averaged 9 points a game and hit 53% of his 3 pointers for the year.

Brooks and Barritt will return for 2021-22 so the Bobcats will be formidable once again. Here's a short video of this outstanding team from the state tournament. Enjoy!
