Regional tournaments in 2023 are here for three of Wyoming’s American Legion Baseball teams.

Gillette is hosting the Northwest Regional Tournament for ‘AA’ American Legion baseball teams from Wyoming, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. The tournament is Aug. 2-6, 2023, at Hladky Stadium.

Single-A state champion Powell is off to Havre, MT, for the Northwest Class ‘A’ Regional Tournament (NWCART). This tournament will be Aug. 4-8, 2023.

Both tournaments have an eight-team field in a modified, double-elimination bracket.

Final Score = Game 6: Bellevue (WA) Lakeside Recovery 13 Eagle River (AK) Wolves 3 – Eagle River eliminated

Final Score = Game 7: Pocatello (ID) Post 4 Runnin' Rebels 7 Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers 6 - a late rally by Cheyenne fell short.

Final Score = Game 8: Gillette Post 42 Riders 7 Rocky Mountain Lobos (Fort Collins, CO Post 187) 5 - Riders jumped out 5-0 in the 1st and never trailed.

Friday, Aug. 4:

Final Score = Game 9: Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers 6 Bellevue (WA) Lakeside Recovery 0 – Bellevue eliminated - McAnelly tossed a 3-hit shutout. Williams with 3 hits (2-2B) & 2 RBIs.

Final Score = Game 10: Rocky Mountain Lobos (Fort Collins, CO Post 187) 4Portland (OR) Post 158 Barbers 3 – Portland eliminated

Final Score = Game 11: Gillette Post 42 Riders 8 Pocatello (ID) Post 4 Runnin' Rebels 7 (8 inns.) - Riders rallied from a 7-4 deficit with 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game. Scored the winning run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the 8th.

Saturday, Aug. 5:

Final Score = Game 12: Rocky Mountain Lobos (Fort Collins, CO Post 187) 7 Pocatello (ID) Runnin' Rebels 3 - Lobos advance to championship Sunday.

Final Score = Game 13: Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers 10 Gillette Post 42 Riders 6 - an 8-run 1st inning propelled the Sixers to the win. They held off a Riders' rally.

(Note: If 3 teams remain with one loss after Game 13, the winner of Game 11 will automatically be drawn into Game 14)

Sunday, Aug. 6:

Final Score = Game 14: Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers 4 Rocky Mountain Lobos (Fort Collins, CO Post 187) 3 - Julian Romero had the game-winning, walk-off RBI triple to right-center. The Sixers rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and tied it in the 4th.

Final Score = Game 15: Regional Championship Game:

Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers 7 Gillette Post 42 Riders 4 - Sixers took the lead in the bottom of the 1st, 4-1, all on RBI singles, and never trailed after that. Cheyenne becomes the first team from Wyoming to go to the American Legion World Series. Sixers' Kaden Anderson won tournament MVP. 

The Sixers advance to the American Legion World Series in Shelby, NC, on Aug. 10-15, 2023.

Final Score = Game 2: Powell, WY Pioneers 2 Redmond Sunwest, OR 1 - after giving up a run in the 1st, Powell held Redmond in check. Johnson had 12 Ks. Stenerson had an RBI double, and Worstell had an RBI single.

Final Score = Game 3: Belgrade, MT 5 Idaho Falls, ID 0

Final Score = Game 4: Havre, MT 1 Ridgeline, UT 0

Saturday, Aug. 5:

Final Score = Game 5: Coeur D'Alene, ID 6 Idaho Falls, ID 0 – Idaho Falls JNS eliminated

Final Score = Game 6: Redmond SunWest, OR 12 Ridgeline, UT 2 – Ridgeline eliminated

Final Score = Game 7: Service, AK 2 Belgrade, MT 1

Final Score = Game 8: Powell, WY Pioneers 4 Havre, MT 3 - the Pioneers built a 4-0 lead and held off a late rally by the North Stars. Powell got 2 hits & 1 RBI from Schwahn. Gibson the win & Worstell the save.

Sunday, Aug. 6:

Final Score = Game 9: Redmond SunWest, OR 8 Belgrade, MT 6 – Belgrade eliminated

Final Score = Game 10: Coeur D'Alene, ID 15 Havre, MT 8 – Havre eliminated
