Addy Thorington and Carson Eardley Get the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Honors [VIDEO]
The WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors, presented by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming, went to top-notch efforts on the volleyball court and football field.
Thorington helped the Panthers win the Class 3A West Regional volleyball title. The senior had 81 kills and a .430 hitting percentage over three matches last weekend. She averaged 5.8 kills per set and finished with five serving aces, 36 digs, and 11 total blocks. Powell opened with a four-set victory over the host, Lander Tigers. The Panthers won back-to-back five-set thrillers over No. 4 Lyman in the regional semifinals and top-ranked Mountain View in the regional finals.
Powell Coach Lesli Spencer said, “Addy has such a great spirit and is a team leader.”
WyoPreps visited with Thorington on Wednesday. She reflected on a great weekend for the team, the key to their success, her performance on the court, and a brief look ahead to the state tournament.
Eardley helped No. 1 Mountain View to a 41-6 victory over Wheatland in the first round of the football playoffs. Eardley scored four touchdowns in all three phases of the game. The senior returned a kick-off 95 yards for a score. He also had an interception return for a TD and a fumble return for a score on defense. On offense, Eardley had a rushing touchdown. The senior had 265 all-purpose yards and 25 defensive points in the victory.
Eardley discussed the team’s win with WyoPreps, as well as described his four scoring plays, what he does for the Buffalos in multiple roles, and more.
Congratulations to Addy and Carson.
