Natrona County Seizes No. 1 in 4A in the New WyoPreps Football Poll
A new solo No. 1 in Class 4A, a team that rejoined the rankings, and teams trading spots in the top five were the differences in the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll on Wednesday. Three top-ranked teams were unanimous selections. Those were Natrona County in 4A, Big Horn in 2A, and Burlington in Class 1A 6-man. Two divisions were the same as last week.
WYOPREPS COACHES AND MEDIA FOOTBALL POLL IN WEEK 5
Class 4A had the most change. After their dominant performance last Friday night, Natrona County is alone at the top. The Mustangs received all 20 first-place votes. Sheridan fell to second. It’s the first time the Broncs haven’t been No. 1 since Week 5 in the 2023 season. Cheyenne East climbed to third after their overtime win against Cheyenne Central. The Indians dropped to fourth. Campbell County moved back into the poll at fifth.
Big Horn got all 20 first-place votes to top the 2A rankings. Mountain View and Cokeville remained second and third, respectively. Thermopolis and Pinedale traded spots. The Bobcats moved to fourth, and the Wrangler fell to fifth. That came after Pinedale’s first loss of the season to Cokeville.
Casper Christian jumped up to second in 6-man. The Mountaineers moved up after beating Little Snake River for the first time last Saturday. Burlington stayed No. 1 and garnered all 15 first-place votes. Little Snake River slid to third, which pushed Encampment to fourth. Riverside held steady at No. 5.
Class 3A and 1A 9-man had no changes.
Star Valley leads 3A with all but one first-place vote. The Braves were followed by Cody, Jackson, Evanston, and Riverton.
Rocky Mountain tops the 9-man rankings for the fourth straight week. Pine Bluffs remained second, with Greybull, Saratoga, and Sundance rounding out the top five.
