Gillette Riders' Jarrett Black Named WyoPreps Athlete Of The Week

The summer sports season is in full swing, and baseball has taken center stage. The WyoPreps Athlete of the Week, based on performances from May 26 through June 1, 2025, is Jarrett Black from the Gillette Roughriders Legion baseball team. Black helped Gillette sweep its first two conference games on the road in Cheyenne.

WYOPREPS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK WINNER 6-5-25

Black tossed a no-hitter in game two of a conference twin bill. Gillette defeated the Cheyenne Hawks 12-0. Jarrett threw only 68 pitches in five innings of his no-no. He struck out 11 batters and allowed just one walk. Two other batters reached on errors, and one was picked off by Black. He struck out the side twice in the game. Cheyenne’s best threat came in the last inning of play, thanks to an error and a fielder’s choice, but Black struck out a batter with runners and first and third bases.
