PHOTOS: Opening Day Action from the Wyoming Legion Division I State Tournament

The new Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division 1 State Tournament started on Friday in Gillette. Three higher-seeded teams advanced in the winner's bracket, and there was one minor upset, seed-wise. The Casper Oilers, Cheyenne Sixers, Sheridan Troopers, and Laramie Rangers opened the five-day event with victories.

Casper rallied past Powell in the first game of the day, 7-4. The Cheyenne Sixers beat the Sheridan Jets, 7-3. The Sheridan Troopers followed with a 2-0 win over the Cheyenne Hawks. The nightcap after opening ceremonies was the host and defending state champion Gillette Riders taking on the Laramie Rangers. Laramie knocked off the Riders, 9-3.
